Tough but willing to help. Has gotten a little easier since her first semester.

Really tough!!! Really fast!! Graded my paper like I was in a 300 or 400 lvl class. She's a fan of South Park tho - had some fun discussions about the latest episode.

Dr. Sears is my favorite History professor. She expects you to read the text book, which can be boring, but she supplements it with very interesting outside readings. Her tests are a little hard, but she makes it clear before hand what is going to be on the tests so you can study. I went in …more thinking I was going to hate it, but I ended up loving it. less

The class, by nature, was extremely difficult (lots of coursework to cover - weekly papers). Dr. Sears was always available and willing to help in any way possible. Very nice. Make sure you do *all* of the readings. On all second drafts, make sure they're different than the first draft.

VERY HARD!!! She acts like her 200 level class in a 300 or 400 level class and will fail a paper if it isn't EXACTLY the way she wants it. I will never take a history class taught by her ever again.

I loved her class even tho it was hard she was super interesting. Papers are graded like 400 level classes but at least everything else wasn't that bad. She is very nice and helpful outside of class so make sure to ask questions then especially about the essay.

She is extremely enthusiastic. She expects a lot out of her students, but she is immensely willing to help. She allows you to bring index cards to tests and quizzes. She encourages you to come to her office hours if you need any help. She's the only HY prof I've had, but it sounds like she's the …more best in the UAH History department. less

Dr. Sears is a great professor. She genuinely respects her students and treats them all like adults. The readings for her classes are interesting but she expects you to WORK for your grade. She is very much "by the book" so follow her syllabus to the letter. She is also quite good …more looking...not that it matters but in a history class, it helps. less

Pushy attitude, openly prides herself on being insanely hard, and a blatant feminist - enough to offend me, a woman myself. As a history major, I have loved history just about my whole life and was really looking forward to this class but I dropped it the 1st week. She really rubbed me the wrong …more way and I didn't want to sit under her twice a week. less
