He means well, but should not be teaching here. He goes super fast and spends almost 40 out of the 50 minutes going over homework, than quickly summarizes the lesson...basically he doesn't teach! He is fair with grading, but you barely have enough time to do the tests. Don't take him if you don't …more have to, you will regret it. less

I learned nothing from him the entire semester, I had to spend most nights in tutoring to learn what he should have taught us in class. Very unapproachable in office hours. Avoid him if at all possible.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. He doesn't teach the material at all, he simply picks problems from the book and does them on the board. Tests are incredibly difficult and you will rarely finish them in the given time period. Going into office hours does not help either, you will walk …more out even more confused than when you walked in. less

SO HARD. He is old and sadly, just not very bright any more. REALLY hard to understand, really difficult tests. He gives you an idea of what will be on the quizzes and tests beforehand which is nice, but be prepared to teach yourself the material-his lectures are terrible.

He wants you to do well, and is a very nice guy, but he just doesn't teach. He knows what he's talking about, but just has no idea how to teach it to you. If I hadn't taken calc in highschool, I would be incredibly lost. I feel bad for him to be honest. I like him, but not as a teacher.

He is a very nice Professor. Very helpful and kind. Class is very rushy though but that's because of the limited lecture time. Just come to his office hours. His tests are REALLY hard, but just practice all types of problems and do all the homework and you can get an A for the test. He also gives …more lots of extra credit, do them and you can get an A. less

He's a nice guy, but he's not a good teacher. You can barely understand anything he tries to teach, and he's useless during office hours. You'll learn more at the math tutoring sessions than thru his class. If you take his class, go to the math tutoring sessions in UHall, or look for professor …more Herbert Medina (an absolute genius) to give you help. less

You try teaching business math to a bunch of kids, its hard! I was a political science major before changing to finance and I understood everything the professor was saying. Professor Shamash chooses his words wisely and you must pick up on his lectures or else you lose, simple as that. I believed …more that his lectures were precise and concise. less

He moves through material very quickly and is not very clear. He does give time at the beginning of each class to answer questions, however, which is helpful. The class was easy for me only because I took AB Calculus in high school, so if you are not a math person, I would not recommend him. He …more tries to be funny too, which is cute, I guess. less

I've taken both math 111 and math 104 with him. He may not teach very effectively, but if you're able to turn in your homework and focus on the study guides he hands out before each test you're golden. Study guides are SUPER consistent with his tests. He is helpful one-on-one, so go to his office …more hours for help. Very nice guy, wants the best. less
