There is a decent amount of reading in this class. Lectures are somewhat engaging but it's very difficult to take notes from his unorganized hand writing on the whiteboard. There are a lot of discussions and reflections on the assignments he gives. He seemed very apathetic every class, not really …more excited to teach everyone. less

There was definitely a lot of reading in this class and you have to turn in a reflective journal for credit each week, which you should easily get full credit for. The midterm and final are basically the same and straightforward if you know your stuff. His lectures are definitely information heavy …more so make sure you pay attention. less

Centino is a really great guy and will work with you if you are struggling. Most of his assignments are really loose ended, so it's hard to get a clear picture on what exactly you are supposed to be doing. Also, there is A LOT of reading. Lots. And there is a weekly 2-3 page journal in which you …more have to talk about the readings. less

Centino is very educated in his field and has a lot to offer his class. However, he expects far too much of students in this introductory course. A lot of information was abstract concepts that he purposefully leaves open ended. He assigns a ton of reading every week that you have to write a 2-3 …more page response for. A great upper div, horrible intro. less

Professor Centino treats his students like they're middle schoolers and expects far too much of them. I learned nothing from him. The only way you can get by in this class is if you do the insane amount of reading that he assigns every week. It's absolutely ridiculous. Do not take his class.

Prof Centino is a nice guy! And he makes his class enjoyable, he always adds a fun game and a cool intro to each class! All you need to do is go thru his reading and connect it to the concepts, he's a fantastic teacher, who relates to modern day issues! Def a must take for American diversity req!

Professor Centino is very knowledgeable about the subject matter and is a very nice and caring individual. I would recommend to anyone considering a Chicano/Latino Studies Class. He is also very easy on the eyes.
