A mediocre class. It's very boring. The instructor was unprepared to teach, didn't know much about the subject matter, and gave lackluster feedback. The students didn't learn anything and it was very low energy. He's not a merit-based grader either.

His speech was tough to understand and it was generally a pointless class. I would’ve been better off just reading the book… which we didn’t use.

He had to learn the subject matter from another professor. He frequently wasted time fiddling with his laptop as he had trouble with basic Internet functions. Only half the class finished their scripts. I was one of these students, but he didn’t give the guidance necessary for beginning writers …more and the advanced ones quickly lost interest. less

If you have to take this class, take the other professor. If you can’t take the other professor, drop out of college.

Tom is one of the sweetest professors I've taken at LMU. I took him for the Hour Drama Screenwriting class where we wrote the hypothetical last season of the Sopranos. Tom is always helpful and ran the class like a writer's room so we could all get experience. He is very chill. He also helped me …more with research for my thesis on showrunning. less

He's pretty chill. He understands about being busy and is more lax than most on deadlines. The class was fun because I got to work with other writers to write a whole season. I just wish we could have voted on which show so I would have known the source material ahead of time.

Tom's writing for 1-hour drama was a great class. The fact that he ran the class like a writer's room - from outlining the season to giving notes on the pages - was the best part. This way we were able to see everything that goes into making a season. Just dive into whatever show the class picks, …more even if you're not a fan, it'll make it more fun. less
