Great professor. Really chill and laid back. She really wants you to learn German and is good at teaching the concepts. Tests are decent and she prepares you for them well.

I had Stimmel for 151, 152, and 251. Her homework load is manageable and her tests are fair, but I honestly just didn't like her as a professor. She wasn't very helpful and got mad at you for not understanding. She's big on participation.

Dr. Stimmel does an excellent job of conveying the language in an understandable manner to beginner level students. She is very fair with her tests and assessments and is a great option if you are planning on taking german.

Dr. Stimmel was my professor for first-year seminar. We learned about the Holocaust. It was extremely repetitive & emotionally draining when we went to class. We watched movies & read books. The tests were easy and it's overall and easy class. You definitely learn a lot about the Holocaust. Stimmel …more is very nice, talk to her & get to know her. less

Dr. Stimmel is actually from Poland so some phrases she teaches you will not make sense to Germans. Other than that, she prepared me well enough to speak to Germans and I was able to take Intensive German in Heidelberg without freaking out. She's a little mean in class but she'll help you with …more everything you ask about. Good teacher, okay person. less

I had Professor Stimmel for First Year Seminar: The Holocaust in Film and Culture. It was an inspirational class, and you will certainly become very informed about the Holocaust. She's very knowledgeable in this area, and as long as you read and watch the assigned material, you will do fine in this …more class. less

Holocaust is a hard topic and Professor Stimmel is a tough-grader. You will be expected to do two papers, pop quizzes, one oral presentation, one midterm, and one final exam. Participation is 15 percent of your grade so make sure you talk a lot in class. This class is not easy as she grades hard on …more midterm, final, two papers that are all essays. less
