Practice exam questions are the only thing that come from the book that are on the exams so purchasing the book is pointless. All the essays are about lectures, so go to class and you should be fine. Class discussions can get off topic but are always informative and interesting

He was a nice plumber; at first everyone seemed to love him because he respects his students. Kinda. He is very impatient if you do anything in the class. He gets easily distracted if someone is smiling/laughing during lectures. Lectures tend to be dull, but the class discussions are interesting. …more Don't buy the book. He has a medical condition too. less

He kind of reminds me of Daum, really good teacher, keeps lectures fun and interesting and MAKES SURE EVERYONE knows what's going on and understands, he does stop and wait so people will ask. So unless you're really stubborn and won't ask questions the info and what is on the test will be very …more clear! He's just strict when it comes to grading tests less

Speaking as a student with absolutely ZERO interest in political science, I actually find myself enjoying this class. Phil is clear with what he expects and what he'll be testing on and makes class interesting. He makes it easy to succeed so long as you put in the effort to do well. TAKE THIS …more CLASS! my fave GE at pepp thus far. less

phil rules! he's a great teacher and he's pretty funny. i really like that he acts as our equal, he doesn't act like he is superior to us. the only thing i dislike about his class is the required class participation.

My absolute favorite professor so far, super nice guy...doesn't take crap from students which is good, likes students to get involved in class. AND if you're happy with your grade after the first 3 exams, you don't have to take the final!

Really nice and really helpful. Easy to understand. Completely recommended. Even if you don't like the subject, the class isn't too terrible. Tests are not hard particularly if you study. Although it is important to read the book, his lecture notes are what should be your main focus for studying. …more For a GE, choose him. less

Phil is an awesome instructor! The class is not easy, but he is very interested in us learning and wants everyone to be engaged in class. I wish Phil taught all my major classes! Know the lecture notes and you'll do well on the exams. Phil is great! Take this class for POSC 104 G.E.
