The semester is split up into units, the readings were very interesting. About 3 papers assigned, based on 2 of the texts from the unit. Make sure to read or else you won't be able to participate or know what's going on. You also make one presentation comparing one of the unit's texts to an outside …more text. Final is a group presentation and paper. less

Talks about very important subjects, but I wish it was a little more current. Read articles, excerpts, books that were older or that one would already be familiar with in the major. Never got to talk about current events in class. Class focused more on texts than writing, which is what GWAR classes …more should focus on. less

What I found frustrating was her inability to understand any ideas that exist outside of what she talks about. She will say, "can you expand on that?" then essentially ignores it. So be ready to focus on class themes and be wary of relating the work to anything non-cannon or from life …more experience unless it is about the hardships of sexual experience less

Get ready for 3, 6-7 page papers that are inconsistently graded. She doesn't like to give rubrics. She's an ok person just not a good professor. When the best thing about your professor is that they respond to emails quickly then you know it's bad.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I never leave negative reviews but this is a fair warning to future students. Be prepared to write 3 essays that might not even receive a good grade. She doesn't give a rubric, so good luck. Also, prepare to do a lot of reading. It's an interesting class overall and the …more books are good but the work is unnecessary. less

Going into this class I was excited. While the books we read were interesting there was a LOT of writing that followed. As mentioned 3 papers(6-7 pages) along with ilearn journals weekly. There is no rubric for the papers, so her grading is harsh and uneven. I highly recommend AGAINST this class.

Felt more like a writing course than anything and we wrote way more than my GWAR. If you are passionate about queer studies stay away. The best thing I can say about the course is she gives a lot of feedback on papers, but grades arbitrarily and is not very understanding of difficulties from group …more work. My second semester, but worst class so far. less
