Mel is GREAT for Drawing I. I'd taken drawing before and hated it, but I felt like I learned way more from her & actually liked it. She doesn't expect you to be a born artist but instead works with you and meets you where you are. Totally recommend.

I hate painting still-lives, and that's pretty much all we did. I found this class boring as hell for the first half of the semester, until she started giving us more freedom over our subject matter. Had still-life homework EVERY WEEKEND, which was awful and counted for way too much of your grade. …more Average, nice, but not my fave style of teaching less

Mel is probably one the gentlest ppl you will ever meet, but dont be late or texting on your phone in class, trust me. She protects the studio for everyones sake plus you cant learn about drawing on your phone anyway. She's doesn't push or scrutinize super technical stuff, she helped me see and …more think about different things about drawing less

Variety of challenging assignments. Prof was encouraging and supportive. Occasional slide shows provided information about current trends in art and guests discussed what they did with their art degrees. Great Class!!!!
