She only gives A's if you exceed the assignment 10 times more than you think you need to. Makes you buy a lot of expensive paper. Has very interesting assignments and very creative teacher.

You won't get an A unless you do everything PERFECT. She's not very open when it comes to personal ideas, and is very stubborn when it comes to crits. She encourages you to try hard, but she damages the inner artist.

No matter how hard you work at something, if she doesnt think its the best one you wont get an A. She made us waste expensive paper for in class sketches and exercises. She would tell us on a Tuesday that we needed to buy certain things for Wednesday.

All previous comments very true. Very unreasonable, for painting i spent upwards of $200, very demanding. three paintings in two weeks!?! wasn't given the breathing time to actually enjoy painting.

I've realized that a lot of art students that go to the Univ. of Hartford are strangely unaccepting of constructive criticism, which Carol is good at offering a lot of. She will tell you what artists you can look to for influence, help you with career adv

Carol is taking steps to improve the painting department. Her strength is her knowledge and enthusiasm about contemporary art. She is VERY dedicated to her students. She can give good career advice and encouragement. She wants to see you succeed. She is also very accepting of all types of …more painting, and can give advice on pretty much anything. Most of the negative criticism we see here is from foundations courses. I do not know what she is like as a foundations teacher. less

Focused too much on a mass quantity of paintings, rather than quality. I always felt too rushed and we hardly got class time to work because she would spend the whole class talking, sometimes totally off-topic.
