She comes off a bit intimidating at first, just because she talked in italian right off the bat and didn't use much english. You definitely learn a lot. Do everything she assigns and pay attention and participate. She tells you what will be on the exams, so prepare ahead of time. Really fun …more professor. less

Dresses well. Intellegent. she used Eastern European authors which I living in post cold war America never heard of. Has Northern Italian- Eastern European Accent, thick even when speaking English.

If you like to read and you're not shy- this class is for you. Class is almost 90% discussion based, and if you don't read and take notes the day before- you're in trouble. You really need to have a full understanding of the material in order to do well here. If you don't participate and have …more extensive thorough notes, it will be very tough. less

Maria is a great teacher who is very passionate about what she teaches. Even if the subject isn't your piece of cake, as long as you come into it with an open mind to learn something, the class isn't bad. There are days where the lectures are long, but just try your best, as they are still useful. …more Participation is a big part of your grade. less

Very caring professor, but gets offended when students don't try in her class. If you want to pass, you have to read the texts and contribute to the conversations in class. If you stay silent, she will call you out on in, and your grade will suffer.

This professor is extremely hard to take a class with. English is a subjective course, yet she treats it like an objective one. She will disagree with your interpretation of a piece if it does not fit her interpretation. If you ask questions or do not contribute something she deems as …more "valuable contributions" she will patronize you. less
