Interesting lectures, very relevant to current events. He puts a great emphasis on history and Latin America because I believe that was his specialization. Papers are pretty easy to get an OK grade on, but he hesitates to rate anyone fantastically. Two tests, not hard if you study his notes and …more participate in discussion/reading. less

he is very thorough with what he teaches and though he may have alot of quizzes it keeps a student on check with classes. Hes naturally humourous and adds pictures on slide etc to make history more interesting.

Great teacher. Lectures can drag on a little, and you will definitely take A LOT of notes, but prof is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about history. He is also well-spoken and funny at times. Well-chosen visual aids to supplement lecture. Textbooks are short. Learned all kinds of things …more about history I was never taught b4. Most learning I've had in college to date. He does sweat a lot :P (poor guy) less

He was fine. I found the lectures incredibly boring. And even though I listened and read, I didn't do well on most of the quizzes. But the papers were a piece of cake. And yeah...he does sweat quite a bit.

Good professor who is very organized. He is clear about his expectations. You must take notes in class to do well but you can still do well if you don't read. Some of his books require a book review essay: definitely read those. Organized, sticks to schedule, and loves his subject. Great professor.

I had him for Modern Mexico- pretty boring but a nice, approachable guy. The class was set up with a midterm, final exam or final paper, and critical reading review essays. Take notes/stay on top of your reading, and you should get a decent grade. Some of the reading material was interesting, but …more class was boring and seemed to last forever. less

Lectures are interesting and comprehensive. I have learned an impressive amount of information in a very short period of time. Note taking and attendance are critical. All books proved interesting. Overall, definitely one of my favorites.

The lectures ae long but filled with prevalent information. You will never get a perfect on anything other than multiple choice. The amount of information you provide will never be enough to gain a grade reflecting the amount of time put in. Essays are speculative at best and the grades are never …more consistant. Biased is the best way to describe it. less
