Polly was not a very good professor. She would judge people by their past and loved to point it out after class. She also was very monotone and dry. She did not teach with enthusiasm. I would not recommend anyone to take her class.

I took her a360 Class and she was HORRIBLE. Could not connect to students and acted very uppity. Was not willing to work with students when family emergencies happened. She was not clear with things and did a horrible job at teaching. Worst Anth Prof EVER! STEER CLEAR!

Do not recommend:She is knowledgeable, but unable to accept the alternative views, perspectives and opinions of her students. Anthropological theory is thinking about critical thinking, therefore opinion is a matter in thinking. She seems to stick to the idea that her opinion is correct and if you …more say anything contrary, she will get very defensive. less

I have to say, I was very disappointed with this class. The professor came off as rude, and very self-oriented with how she taught and her ideals. I would not take this class with her, and she is a bad representative of the anthropological community.

She is a professor that can be easily misunderstood. She is not always clear on what she wants in her papers. However she graded fair on my part. Stay involved, pay attention and motivate yourself to enjoy the work. This is college, not high school.

Professor Spiegel was a tad difficult to get to know for at start of course. After getting to know this professor, I found her very pleasant and knowledgeable on the topic of cultural anthropology. She does exhibit the tendency to be uppity in her interactions with other students.

I feel as though Spiegel is so intelligent that she is often misundertood. She has a dry sense of humor that i VERY MUCH enjoyed. I dont think she is snobbish or uppity. Her class is a hard class and is designed to make you think. She is one of my favorite teachers in the department and I recommend …more her. less

If you know how to defend your point, then 360 will no phase you. How ever, Spiegel is in no way helpful, concerned about her students or a good professor. She is at heart, i feel, a nice person. She has bad professor-student communication skills and is way to self involved.I would recommend …more avoiding her unless you have to take the class. less
