Low- voiced lectures barely scratched the surface of the material I was expected to know. Recitation is for points (needed!) but good luck getting helpful recitation leaders. Practice tests help little & grades are massively curved. I quit attending lecture when I realized I was mostly teaching …more myself, yet passed with a C. Brutal weed- out class. less

- Can't teach. - Talks about important concepttopic for like 30 sec. - Super hard test with a study guide thats not helpful at all (the review doesn't even cover the stuff thats suppose to be in the exam) - Low lecture voice; close to no example during lecture! -Not outgoing - pretty awkward! -Get …more ready to teach yourself organic chemistry! less

He admitted to the class that he loves to give tricky questions on the test you have to work for. The problem is you have 1 hour to do write out ALOT of mechanism etc. which means you DO NOT have time to solve his riddles for questions. Helpful guy. Terrible tests. Tests cover students ability to …more decipher hard worded questions, not class material. less

It doesn't matter if you have Dr. D or Dr. Minto because the tests are the same. With that, you MUST read the book and do all the practice problems you can to really understand and do well on the tests. Dr. Minto offers office hours and I highly recommend them because they are extremely helpful!! …more Also, read the chapters before lecture. less

Really tough class. Recitation helps a lot but Dr. Minto is just a horrible lecturer. I taught Organic Chemistry to myself from the book and still only scraped by with a B. The class is a massive weedout course, but just study from the book and you'll at least pass. Tests were very different than …more practice exams and book problems. Overall, he sucks. less

You have to learn on your own, the tests are ridiculous. It's not impossible to get a good grade, it's just a dreadful experience.

Orgo is just a really difficult class for most people. I was great at general chemistry, but organic was extremely difficult for me to grasp. Minto had a tendency to flip through his slides & not fully explain every concept that would be on the exam. The best thing though, is that the class is …more curved very heavily due to the difficulty. less

Great Professor. You either get it or you don't, but it starts with having a good attitude. Here is an example: cutoff for an A- starts at an 80% and can only go down based on class averages (that is a Verryy generous); furthermore, there was up to 10 bonus points on some exams. Overall a great …more experience for a very introductory-level Orgo course. less

Minto is a tough teacher. His lectures are very informative, but you need to go beyond that. During one of his office hours, he literally told me that the problems in the book are not enough quantitatively or qualitatively. It is a touch class mostly due to how difficult his tests are. Study, …more study, study and GO TO CLASS! less

He obviously knows a lot about organic chemistry but that doesn't translate into being a good teacher. His class consistently tests at least 10% lower than Dr. Lauhle's. He doesn't explain things well and he seems to take pride in students doing poorly. He actually seemed upset when the class …more average was higher than normal on a test. less
