Dr. Denton seems like a nice person. However, he is not an experienced professor. He is not too good at explaining and presenting the material. Also, his grading guideline is very unclear. I do not believe he has a good understanding of organic chemistry. He gets confused with students' questions …more and he does not have confidence in his answers. less

Excellent professor. Anytime I had a question he would take the time to explain my confusion. I had him as a lab professor, but I hear he teaches organic lecture in the summer and does an excellent job. As far as lab goes: read ahead, put effort in the in notebooks, and do NOT blow off the …more spectroscopy exam. less

Great professor. VERY helpful and clear. Lots of extra resources like lab instructional videos. Makes jokes but stays really focused and doesn't get sidetracked (which is helpful). I was afraid before I took this class and though it's been super hard for me I think it's been make way easier by his …more clear teaching style. So appreciated! less

Great Professor. He used powerpoint to guide lecture, which was very helpful. He explained the material clearly before doing examples, which I thought made the material so much easier to understand. I would recommend taking this class with this Professor.

Awesome professor, I had him during the summer and he made orgo easy. He's the perfect combination of approachable/relatable, but also knowledgable. He was really good at lecturing and also ran lab very well. I could always ask him a question about either of the two and he always gave clear and …more helpful answers. less

I wouldn't laud him as a great professor; however, I have had much worse. I don't know if he writes his tests or not, but just so you know, he teaches at about a difficulty level of 6, gives practice material that's at about a level 7, and tests at a 9 or 10. The most difficult part of the course …more is bridging that gap. Good luck! less

Not bad, but not good either. The tests are incredibly difficult. If you can do the practice tests perfectly, you'll get a C on the real test. Lecture was worthless. Time was better spent watching online videos that actually explain the "whys" of the subject. Great lab instructor, needs work on …more lecture skills to make the topic understandable. less

Tests were way too hard and his curve isn't that generous. His videos for lab are wonderful but as for lecture, I was falling asleep. I'm pretty sure that most of the class is going to leave with either a B or C. He's not a bad teacher, his tests are just plain frustrating.

Organic Chemistry is terribly hard but Professor Denton does a pretty good job of making it understandable. He doesn't have office hours but you can schedule appointments with him via email and ask questions after class. He schedules an extra recitation during the week for those who want extra help …more and his grading curve is amazing. less

He is not the worst professor I have had, but he is far from the best. The exams were very difficult and the grading scale made getting a good grade difficult. Although he provides many resources, it was still a difficult class to get through.
