I was super nervous to be taking ASL but Soz made me feel so comfortable right from the beginning. It is so helpful to have a deaf professor because you are immersed in the culture and learn much faster. It was his first semester at IUPUI when I had his class so he wasn't completely aware of what …more needed to be turned in. But I recommend him! less

Scott is awesome at his job. He makes learning American Sign Language fun and interesting. No, it is not easy because you are learning a complex language, but he does make it interesting and he is very helpful along the way. Make sure you go to the ASL Lab early on as it is required. Amazing class, …more amazing professor. less

Scott is an incredible teacher, he truly cares about his students and wants every single one to succeed. Go to class and participate. If you ever need help ask! Wish he taught higher level ASL classes, I would take him everytime.

Soz is great and I wish I could take him for higher levels of ASL. He has a cheesy sense of humor and an infectious energy every class. He DOES expect you to learn the material as the semester progresses, so make sure you're attending lecture to learn all the information. Actively participate and …more actually try and you'll do great. 100% recommend! less

Soz is a great professor. Asl is not an easy subject but I easily learned from him. I did not really study much outside of class and got a good grade. Plus he is hilarious. Definitely take him if you get a chance.

Favorite professor!!! He is always happy and excited for class. I am not a morning person and I had his class at nine O'clock and his energy woke me up and made me excited for class. Always joking around with everyone. Would definitely recommend and if I get the chance I would definitely take one …more of his classes again! less

I'm minoring in ASL and of all the classes I've taken Soz is by far the best professor. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who asks. He's funny, makes lectures interesting, and is very clear on how he grades. He's great at making sure everyone in the class is getting the signs right and …more gives helpful feedback. less

Soz is absolutely hysterical and fantastic in his teaching style. He's extremely patient, and is easily available if you need him. His lectures are fun, and he's a fairly easy grader and provides good, constructive feedback. I would recommend him if you're going to take ASL.
