First semester at Bentley, he came from Boston University. He is a nice guy, he knows his thing, but not good transferring knowledge. He needs to put his**** together (equipment configuration and his own preparation) before the network labs. The amount of hours in the lab suck, and his comments …more are harsh toward students. less

The work load for the assignments are fair but his exams are so hard its unreal. He asks very detailed questions at an exam that covers 100+ pages. The class is usally a bore, thats why everybody brings their laptops. If you are taking this class, be prepared for sleepless nights and low grades.

For first time teaching this class Prof Yates did a very good job. IMHO he worked hard to make sure we understood the material and succeeded in his course.

i am taking this course as an elective and think it's way cool (and easy) ... you get to grok how a web site works behind the scenes, in the database. prof yates makes the material easy to understand, and gives <avg work and easy exams! ... he also provides great help outside of class, and …more responds to email 7x24 ... take this Prof if you can! less

I took this course as the first course in the CS minor at Bentley. I came with an interest level of "4", but left with an interest level of "5," thanks to Prof Yates. Needless to say, I am definitely going to become a CS minor (they call it an IT minor here). Hopefully this will …more give me an edge on the job market, when the time comes. less

I took this guy on my roomate's recommendation. He states his expectations for the course up front and holds you to them. The workload is moderate-to-high, but you learn a ton. The best for me -- doing the project for this class was a blast ... oh yeah, and useful for your interships too.

Great guy. Lot's of work for this class, but it's not hard. Grades assignments relatively easy. Will go out of his way to help you. Very down to Earth and easy going.

Great guy, had him for 150 as well. He knows his stuff, covers a lot of material in this class in a short amount of time. You learn a lot, as in 150 - but you should keep up with the work. Take him if you're in the major!
