Lots of extra credit. If you show up and read the book it would be hard not to get an A. He is very willing to help during office hours as well. A great intro class and he is very understanding that some people have never seen the periodic table before. take it.

Dr. Gahr is a great intro professor though you can tell he's partial to organic. I think the only thing that irked me the first few classes is that if you asked a question he would answer your question the same way he had already explained previously. Other than that, he's awesome and considerate …more to those who haven't taken chemistry before. less

He is great. He makes class interesting with examples and teaches the material in a way that even beginners can understand. He won't assume that you know something already, which I appreciated. If you have a question while he is in chalkboard mode its hard to get his attention, but overall a very …more good professor. less

I retook chemistry with Dr.Gahr. I had a MUCH better experience with him being my professor! He makes the material clear to understand and emphasizes what we really need to memorize. Gives extra credit opportunities on almost all quizzes!

Honestly, This is my second time taking Chem 1, and I can promise you he is the most confusing and terrible teacher I have ever had! His quizzes aren't bad but the tests are impossible. If you want to learn Chem take it from another better Chem teacher!

Please do not be fooled by some of the good ratings this teacher has received. He is jumbled, scrambled, and disorganized in his teaching. Lecture does not match the test. Most everyone I talked to received very low grades on the tests despite profuse studying. Also, he is very sassy and often …more belittling in class. Do not take chem with him. less

I think that the defining moment in this class was the day we asked him how he got an answer and he said he didn't know; spent 20 minutes doing the problem. THE GUY DOESN'T KNOW MATH!!!

I'm mixed on Dr. Gahr. Nice guy for sure, does give all sorts of extra credit opportunities and he knows the material. That being said, he sometimes struggles getting it across, gets jumbled up a lot and the tests are hard. My quiz average is over 100, but my test average is only in the 70's and …more that's because of extra credit. less

I have a mixed review about Dr. G. He sometimes isn't clear and is all over the place at times. Doesn't really prepare you too much for exams. The man gives extra credit on just about everything which saved me! I did good in the class, but studied my butt off for exams.

Honestly I really liked him at first. About halfway through the semester, everything just went down hill. His lectures lost focus, tests had questions on them that I had never seen before, and the one day I skipped class (to study more for an exam that day) he gave a pop quiz and wouldn't make it …more up. He is slow to reply to to emails & hateful. less
