I was dreading having to take my freshman seminar class, but I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed this class. Brian was new to Appalachian and hadn't been here long but he fit right in. I didn't mind going to class because we had interesting lectures. The only negative thing I would say is if …more you absolutely hate reading, stay away. less

This class was by far the best class I've ever taken. Brian was not only was he a help in class, but out of class he was there to give you advice on anything curricular or personal. The reading assignments were a bit lengthy, but discussing the texts in class helped a ton. However, if you don't …more like debate, don't take this class. less

Dr. MacHarg is very interactive, extremely intelligent, and an easy guy to talk to, both inside and outside the classroom. His class has a lot reading, two papers, and a required 15 hours of community service. If you don't like reading, speaking out loud, or debating, don't take his class, but I …more definitely recommend his class. less

Honestly, the best teacher I've ever had the pleasure to be taught by. His class would be my favorite regardless of the topic. My class was 2.5 hours long and on just the first day half of the class decided to drop due to length, if they stayed they'd have ended this semester feeling like their …more education is actually worth the money spent. less

For this class, you have to do 15 volunteer hours outside of class as well as lead a 75 minute discussion outside of class. It's really hard to get anyone to take 75 minutes out of their day to listen to you talk about service and leadership.

He is honestly the best professor I have ever had. His class was life changing. All the readings, videos, and discussions were just fantastic. I could not rave enough about this class.

Brian is a super nice guy and his class was very interesting. Though it was rather hard for a UCO, it was worth it. Brian opened my eyes to the Boone community and many topics of which I was not previously well-versed in. There was a group presentation, an outside of class discussion, volunteering, …more and weekly discussionsWould definitely take again! less

Brian is an extremely nice, caring professor. His seminar is closer to a philosophy/debate class than anything else, but lots of fun. You have to lead an hour long discussion in and out of class, and get 15 service hours for the class. There is moderate reading outside of class, but nothing crazy. …more This class is not for the soft spoken or shy! less

If you show up and participate in the discussion and read you get an A. I only recommend taking him if you are taking classes that do not require a lot of out of class work. We have to have 15 volunteer hours and have to lead an out of class discussion. This class is not hard, just time-consuming. …more If you have the time though, take it. less
