Work Load: 2-3 Excel Assignments (which you will do in class), 3 Tests (all online) and 3 Case Studies (2 pages in length). If the majority of the class fails a test, he will give a ton of extra credit. He will most likely give a ton of extra credit anyways. He's super nice. Attendance is not …more mandatory unless you want extra credit. less

Took him for a beginner Java programming class. His assignments were taken straight from Stanford University's CS106A course. READ THE BOOK and start early! The class was really hard, but he was lenient in grading and I somehow managed to get an A- despite not knowing what I was doing. Make an …more effort to do the assignments and you should pass. less

Seriously the nicest guy I have ever met. If you legitimately try in this class, you will get an A. The class can get confusing and you may feel lost but if you ask for help it will be given! If he sees that you are trying and not just copying answers he will grade you fairly every time

For an online class, you would think he would understand how to respond to emails. I emailed him about a time sensitive assignment and it has been 48 hours since then and still have nothing. At this point, it is obvious he is ignoring students. Extremely vague instructions and will not return …more emails to clarify himself. Contradicts himself. less

Very hard to take this easy class because of this professor. He doesn't do anything other than put assignments on asulearn at the beginning of the semester then he disappears never to be heard from again. You would think an online professor understands the importance of communication. He should not …more be teaching online classes. STAY AWAY. less

To be teaching an online computer class, John must not know how to use his own computer very well because he does not appear to do anything other than post assignments to AsuLearn and have it grade everything for him. His syllabus, schedule, and assignments are all contradictory and he will not …more respond to emails to clarify. Horrible instructor!!!! less

Worst Professor I've had while attending App State. His powerpoints are awful and he covers up his bullet points with pictures so you can't even see what they say and doesn't explain anything. He is no help at all and expect you to teach yourself. Asks questions that are not in his powerpoints or …more in the book. You'll be googling everything. less

Kowalczyk doesn't take attendance which is nice because going to his class is a waist of time! he doesn't teach you anything from his unless powerpoints. He is quiet yet teaches a class with 100 people in it. He has extra credit which is nice but if you don't go to the extra credit event he still …more expects you to do an alternative assignment.. less

Horrible. I would barely go to his class already because his class was basically just him reading off of powerpoints. When I did try to go to class he would cancel it without notification unless you were in the class prior to the day you tried to attend. And if he cancels class he puts up a quiz …more online which he doesn't give notification for either. less
