Lectures seem like they drag on, but she is a good speaker. Textbook reading is assigned for every class but I never did it. Show up to class, pay attention/take notes, maybe read a little bit and study for the tests and you'll do fine. A good class to take for gen. ed. history credit.

Lucinda the Great. She is very passionate about her field of work. Very well educated, uses top notch vocabulary. I want to travel to Europe every day that I have her class.

Okay so here's the thing. McCray is brilliant and clearly very passionate about her work, but for a gen ed history requirement this class is insanely hard. She is great but there are no tests and you have a paper almost every week. The midterm and final are crazy and she's one of the toughest …more graders I have ever had. less

You have to write 6 one-pg (single spaced) essays which wasn't too bad but still was no fun. !!!!!!!!!!!Boring lectures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a very nice and happy person which is always good, but for the midterm and final you have to memorize birth/death dates for EVERY person mentioned to get …more full credit. less

This class is too hard for a gen-ed history. The only grades we got were from essays & exams. There's six essays you have to write and two in-class exams. Essays are graded pretty harshly and the highest grade I ever got on one was an A-, whereas in my actual writing class I made an A on every …more essay. Dr. McCray is really nice but grades too harsh. less

She is a really sweet lady, but her class is way too hard for a Gen ed class. Grades consists of three, one page essays, attendance and two exams (mid-term and final). She takes attendance every class, so skipping would hurt your grade. The reading helps immensely with the essays, but if you are …more decent at history, not necessary. less

Dr. McCray is an incredibly intelligent woman, and clearly knows everything there is to know about history, particularly public health. Her lectures can be a little boring at times, but her grading criteria is very clear and there's only like 4 assignments (they're literally 1 page essays). The …more reading helps for sources. Great class, sweet lady less

Extremely boring lectures, spends too much time on one slide. Have to read several chapters for homework each night. Only grades are 3 one pages essays, a midterm, and a final.

Lectures were boring but if you didn't pay attention it was okay. The study guide has all of the test essays on it. There were 3 essay and if you work hard you get a good grade. mandatory attendance. Mandatory readings but I didn't do them and it didn't affect my grade. Would take again. Two exams, …more 3 one page essays and attendance was graded. less

It was a hard class; there's only 3 papers, and 2 tests the entire semester. The study guides for the test have everything on them but you have to study a lot to know it. There was reading every night but it wasn't necessary. The only time I really used the book was for tests and the essays.
