The best professor at ASU. He is so nice and is always in a good mood. Lectures are funny in his own way. VERY good professor. I would him recommend to anyone.

A lot of times profs who have years of experience in their field tend to be self-absorbed, but Root is an extremely nice man with a good (if corny) sense of humor. Tests come from notes which are in powerpoint format, and other assignments are fairly light. Anecdotes are insightful and keep the …more class interesting. Overall would definitely recommend. less

Easy class! Everything comes off the powerpoints. He's pretty lenient about grades. A lot of small projects/assignments to turn in. Attendance is mandatory.

Hated it! Everything came off powerpoints which is good, but I didn't learn anything. The study guide was pretty much, learn everything on the slides, but that was about 70 slides per chapter and a 3-4 chapter test! Also, it was more like a biology class than a foods class. He's nice, always …more happy, but his jokes are so nerdy and not funny. less

Most boring class I've ever experience. Lifestyle projects due every couple of weeks and he does not explain them at all.

Only do 4 projects a semester, they are time consuming but easy. He is a great professor and really cares about his students. Very approachable. Use the study guides for tests and you'll pass. Don't take notes, just print out the powerpoints and follow along. Very sweet professor!!

Really nice guy, but class is boring except when guest lecturers come in. If you hate group work or presentations don't take this class with him, you have to do group research/presentation projects three different times throughout the semester.
