Pavel talked the entire lecture, and never gave a chance for questions or rebuttles. He is very hard to understand and his tests are very hard. Lots of people are re-taking him this semester for failing in the past semesters. There are only a few teachers that teach Theory, but if you can avoid it, …more DON'T take him. less

Lectures the entire class. Tests are half multiple choice and half short essay. His grading scale is crazy, but in a good way - you can miss over half the questions and still pass. His class isn't outrageously hard, it's just really boring, which makes it hard to pay attention. He's a nice guy …more though and willing to help if you ask. less

hes a really nice guy and obviously really smart, but he lectures all class and can be really boring. this does not help note taking. still, his tests arent horrible and he'll help you if you ask. oh and hes got a really thick russian accent- you can still understand him perfectly, its just …more something interesting about him less

Soooo boring. Just reads off of a powerpoint (which he posts online after class). There's absolutely no point in coming to class, but attendance is taken every class. Likes to write pointless things on the board and wastes a lot of time by doing stupid things instead of teaching.

He came in halfway through the semester b/c my original professor had to go on maternity leave. He was a really easy professor, tests weren't that bad. The only bad thing about him is his russian accent...it can be kind of hard to understand and he gets really monotone sometimes. Other than …more that, very easy class. less

Pavel was an extremely competent instructor with high expectations. I never had a hard time understanding him either. It's very easy to blame a professor when you don't do well. But Pavel is friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable. Talk to him! You'll see the reality of the situation.

His accent is not that hard to follow. In fact it serves to be quite entertaining the way he says some words. His grading is super easy, there is no way you can make less than a B- if you just try. No homework, just 4 tests and a 7-8 page research paper. He does take points off for being absent. Am …more taking him again for Soc Theory II. less

he must say the words "alright" and "okay" at least a hundred times each lecture. the tests are all statistics and all four choices could be an answer. i didnt even choose him for a teacher so im pissed that i have to bring down my GPA for this class. grades easily but really …more boring and tests are hard. if you go to class he will give you points less

He is a great teacher. Not that hard to understand. He will LOVE you if you just particpate in class and share your opinions. He loves when students contribute and discuss things and will often let the discussion go on if it is related to the content.

The social theory classes are not that interesting, but pretty easy. His tests are hard, but he has a crazy grading scale and everyone usually ends up making an A or B. He is really nice too. 4 exams and one paper due at the end of the year. Attendance is mandatory but i dont think he really ranks …more it too high because people skip class all the time less
