he is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met about woodworking. You ask him how to do something and he will tell you 8 reasons why ur dumb and 9 reasons how to complete your goal. He is sarcastic, but friendly if you get to know him.

Knows his stuff backwards and forwards, but comes to class reeking of Gin and can be extremely cutting and sarcastic at times. Be professional and show up for class and you should be fine.

Sarcastic and cutting at times, and not particularly open to new things, but he definitely shows his mastery of woodworking. The class is a lot of work, and you'll have to have a lot of self motivation, but Phil will help you if you ask, but don't ask stupid questions or he'll chastise you. And …more yes, the gin thing is a huge concern of mine as well less

If he makes you feel dumb when you ask questions, don't let it get to you... he does that to everybody. Aside from that he's invaluable when it comes to woodworking knowledge. If you like woodworking, you've gotta take this class.

Incredibly helpful professor. Whatever thing you screw up, he will find a way to help you out so you can pass. Forget about the fact of him making you feel a bit dumb whenever you ask him something, that's just the way he is. Definitely recommend him :)

Phil is friendly and knowledgable. You can tell he really loves what he does. The technical knowledge and respect for working this class gave me is something I think I'll remember for the rest of my life.

He is very passionate about his field, but this might not translate well for a student that could care less about Introduction to Fabrication. If you are ADHD this class is not for you. He will take way too long to explains things so be prepared but you will get to make some pretty cool knick …more knacks and weld. less

I had him for M&P, Welding and used Phil for help later on with projects. I learned more in his class than all other classes at App. Life long skills and many life lessons can be learned. He respects good effort and hard work.

Phil's super passionate about what he does and you can definitely see it. He is a little patronizing when you ask questions and makes you feel a little dumb but don't let it get to you. Ask him questions anyway-- he's really helpful if you need it. This class in general requires a lot of work after …more hours but it's worth the grade. less
