Integrates alot of Greek into his lectures, which doesn't help at all. Classes and tests are all about translations and grammar ~ if you don't go to class or tune out his lectures, you WILL FAIL. But his classes usually go short.

I had him for Christianity to 1500. You must attend his lectures. I liked his style. He knows several languages and lectures are full of info. Tends to wander off topic, but its usually interesting. Strict attendence policy.

Terrible Terrible Terrible. Him and Sheldon Hanft are the worst professors I have ever had. Spencer is a lot tougher, but just as annoying. I have no respect for a man that makes a literature humanity requirement this hard. He should be fired.

Take LAtin with him. He is VERY hard at first, but once you get into the swing of things it becomes a whole lot easier, and you end up learning a whole lot more than you expected.

Dont let him intimate you he will help you if you make the point to visit him.Even if your doing bad he curves alot. My advice is if you really want to learn about relgion take Spencer he knows Hebrew and Aramaic. Read and attend class or you will fail

i personally liked the mans style and did very well, however, the work load is insane and not for weak students. do not take him if you already have lots of work in the semester.
