Whyte is not a bad professor but he really makes you work for your grade. I was there all the time and did really well on the first exam but struggled on all the others because they were really hard. He's not awful but he's not the best.

His class only consisted of 3 exams and one final which was a series of 6 one-page papers. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't go, you definitely won't pass. He doesn't put any of his powerpoints online, and you have to pay close attention to what he says because you will be tested on it. …more Easy class if you go and study the inventories. less

go to class even though attendance is not required... will make the three exams easier. the final is just an essay you can google the information for... go to class and study your notes, don't read the book. it is a waste of time.

Dr. Whyte is a good professor in anthropology. It is absolutely necessary that you show up to class and take good notes, because the test is entirely short answer and fill-in-the-blank and based off of the lectures. He makes the course interesting and fun, and I would take him again. He can be a …more bit arrogant at times, but that's alright. less

You absolutely have to come to class to pass this class. He does not use a textbook, so the information for the tests come from his powerpoints, which he does not post online. Expect lots of reading: long papers written by him or his colleagues, Can be boring. However, he's a great instructor, …more knows his topic well. Def. reccomend less

Dr. Whyte is a great person, but the class only has three tests and a project, which counts as the final exam. The tests are comprised of fill in the blank, short answer, and essays, no multiple choice. Unless you are interested in archaeology and willing to study very hard, I wouldn't take the …more class as a gen ed. less

The only positive thing I can say about Dr. Whyte is he's extremely knowledgeable of the subject. He is extremely rude to his students, and whines and complains about students who don't come to class. Literally all the class is is three exams that he grades in a very tough manner. No other work …more than that except for the final paper. less

Dr. Whyte was overall a pretty good professor, although there was definitely more he could have done to help his students succeed. Basically the only material he provided to study for the test was the book(which most of the test questions weren't based off of) and not so detailed lecture notes. He …more does, however, know a lot about archaeology. less

I liked Dr. Whyte. He is very passionate about archeology and I liked that he had experience in the field that he is teaching. I found his class to be interesting and not very hard, but I did attend every class. If you miss the test day he will not let you take it on another day.

Definitely an expert. Exam 1 is tough b/c he is so pedantic. TAKE GOOD NOTES. He has strong opinions and will judge students/current generation; paraphrasing: "You're all screen zombies; obsessed with your phones" (then he'll pull out his flip phone virtue signaling), "Many of you …more make spelling errors and I bet that's because you don't read". less
