Ploran is a very good teacher but when it comes to tests she'll take examples from deep in the book and if you just skim the textbook you're guaranteed a bad grade. Just don't be lazy, read the book, and pay attention in class and you'll be fine because she's very clear and understandable; you'll …more learn a lot. less

Her class is a lot of work. Her exams are not easy; you have to read the book thoroughly in addition to her class notes. There is a lot of information, and she doesn't skip anything. You need to do bb dicussions for each chapter. Don't know if she curves, but hopefully she does as class average is …more not that great. She is really sweet though. less

Dr. Ploran is extremely helpful. She gave us many chances to make up missed work and poor grades by offering make up assignments and exams. Not an easy class, however the textbook is needed to get a good grade

Dr. Ploran is a bright, lively, and wonderful professor. The courses will be difficult no matter who you have, and I was definitely challenged. She was always willing to help and did a great job of doing so. I had her for 2 classes and was never tired of her! I learned A LOT and am so thankful for …more her enhancing my work ethic. Do the work! Take!!! less

She starts of the semester well, but as it progresses the work just keeps getting piled on. She is extremely inconsiderate in course load she gives. Its almost impossible to balance this class with other hard classes. Methods took up 90% of my time with her. WARNINGm you will do more work than you …more have for any class. less

Horrible professor, is too demanding and does not give any time between assignment to gather thoughts. Very unorganized always changes due dates and surprises you with homework assignments being worth more than originally stated.

At first I was apprehensive about taking this class due to her reviews but I had no choice. After taking her, I found her to be an AMAZING professor. Despite my grade, she was always eager to help, enthusiastic (this class was at 6:30pm btw)and CLEAR. SHE IS NOT EASY NOR IS THE CLASS! But this is …more college. Grow up. less

I cannot believe the negative ratings on this page. Dr. Ploran is an outstanding professor, very helpful, extremely intelligent and a fair grader. Both classes I took with her were very demanding and challenging but opted to take her twice because I learned so much. Her neuroscience seminar is the …more best class Ive taken at Hofstra. Highly recommend. less
