This professor is good, and expects a lot out of students. He has a Ph.D. in systems science so he is very into how groups and game competition works. He likes to have us count off and get into groups every class. He's a little bit stiff in terms of his demeanor and very reserved and quiet but …more seems very smart and has sense of humor under exterior. less

This teacher is hard, great but hard grader. He's really smart and brings a lot of science into the lecture. This was a University Studies class on Privacy and Technology and Freedom. Interesting topics, great reading that was current.I'd recommend.

This teacher is difficult but you learn a lot, he's an intellectual who takes a lot of care with students. This was a privacy, freedom class for univ. studies. He's good at getting discussions going and wants students to learn, but is not easy. Lots of papers to write and grading is tough. Even …more tests are take home essays. System Sci. background. less

Good pick if you want to get more from a UNST class than just an easy A. Likes having class discussions so be prepared to participate. Grades a bit harder than most but still reasonable. My papers were nothing special and I still got As on all of them. Just remember that this is college so avoid …more 8th grade grammar and punctuation and you'll be fine less

His quizzes were terrible. There was no way to know what he would want from you.He always said,oh don't worry,I'm grading on a curve, but in the end, didn't.Of four years at Portland State, Jeff sticks out as one of the most pointless and irritating professors I've had.It would have been worth the …more trouble if I had learned anything new, but I didn't. less

Univ Studies class. Tough grader, somewhat hard to understand as he usually teaches at a higher level, system science. He's challenging but a bit elitist. He's got that PhD so he is right about everything. Guest speakers were very elitist, MDs, etc. Would not recommend.

Who is this guy and why is he teaching my class? He's obviously a phd, a scientist. Why is he teaching a class for Univ. Studies. Difficult. Challenging. does he love teaching? I think not. He's a researcher who is forced to teach low division classes and is trying, but not succeeding at it.

If you read other peoples reviews on this professor, it's actually gotten worse than what's been written.

Very frustrating to have him as a professor he makes taking notes in class difficult because the power point's don't have everything that we talk about in class on them. Because he always tries to fit more into the class time, he goes through the material very fast so it is difficult to take notes …more on what he says. Study guides don't help with tests less

He is pretty unorganized, as someone stated before, he always plans more then he can fit into a class. He really like group work and often makes the class count off and join groups, which usually waste even more time. He doesn't answer questions very clearly.
