The material seemed intresting but unfortunately I finished the semester learning nothing from the class. The way she would explain the material was even more confusing then the text and when we would try to ask questions or input our thoughts she would reject or disregard our ideas.

She is a decent teacher. You need to buy the book, but you don't necessarily need to do the reading, although it can get awkward when no one participates in class. Just take good notes and you'll be good to go for the papers.

She lectures on and on about the text and she clears up nothing. As a philosophy class you would expect interesting conversation, but she doesn't engage the class at all.

Lectures get boring and she needs to learn how to guide discussions, but she's not that bad, and she really does seem to care about her students. It really depends on the class dynamic.

I took History of Ancient Philosophy with Dr. Ionescu. It sounds like a super boring class, but she made it interesting & brought outside sources to put things into context. She guides discussions well and makes you participate in conversation. She's a very reasonable, kind, and understanding …more person. Definitely one of my favorite profs ever. less

Final exam was too hard, expected too much out of us. It was one of those here's 20q's all indepth essays, I'm going to ask 3. Wasn't overly nice/friendly, and she never let us know where we were at grade wise in the semester.
