Bae. You don't want to be on his bad side. No one does the reading, but we read aloud in class anyway so make sure you pay attention in lecture. You could say the books are required but I only bought like half of them and survived (don't be me), it was only an issue when I was asked to read aloud. …more Oral exams and essays comprise the papers less

Mr. Bryan is beautiful. He is very sarcastic and can come off as scary at first, (I tried to switch out the 1st week), but after two semesters, I can confidently say he's a great person. He really wants you to understand the material and will go over it 10 times until you get it. TIPS: Readings …more aren't necessary, just take good notes in class less

Mr. Bryan is pompous, inaccessible, and creepily self-absorbed. Avoid his class at all costs, there are so many better LC Philosophy teachers that you could switch for! Grades are based on oral exams and papers that you MUST get his feedback on before submitting. Good luck making it to his 2 …more office hours that all 40 of his students try to get to. less

James Bryan? You mean Hammer Arms. This California dream will take you on a philosophical ride of a lifetime. Prepare for pompous wit, sarcastic slander, and flip phones. His hair style is as sharp as his cunning grin. Know your facts or the oral exams will be rough. Pay attention and it'll be a …more useful and informative class over the year. less

Mr. Bryan is an awful professor. He is highly inaccessible, pompous, and an extremely hard grader. I have asked for help from him so many times and there hasn't been much of a solution. He goes off on tangents when he explains things and most of the class is oral, which is extremely confusing. I …more would not take him again, and avoid him if possible! less

No office hours and is only avalible at the most inconvenient times! Mr. Bryan is way too technical and unprofessional. If you don't use a philosopher's exact meaning so many points will be taken off!

It is difficult to do well on your own, but he really tries to make an effort to help you understand the material and his grading criteria if you ask him for help. He is able to break down really dense philosophy text into easy to understand lectures. MAKE SURE YOU PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSIONS! Its …more not a good idea to skip this class. less
