January is probably the hardest Phil teacher...it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to good grades on her essays, her exams are very long and open ended, and you have to read A LOT! but, she explains most material very well, and she definitely knows what she's talking about. plus if you're having trouble in her …more class, she'll make time for you to come in and talk less

This graduate student is a horror. Tests are ridiculous and papers are graded with a fine-tooth comb. As a first year philosophy student this class is a nightmare. She frequently goes off on tangents and uses food as examples for discussing Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle. Avoid this class like …more the plague, save your GPA!! less

January is really difficult. Very demanding, almost impossible to get an A in. However, she is a fantastic teacher and explains the material extremely well in lecture, and is usually available to help. But I recommend avoiding her if you are not a PHIL major, as you will learn a ton, but she is …more just too demanding for a non-major class. less

You have to write papers as if they're your dissertation. Her tests are so specific, even she couldn't pass them. Readings were 23094 pages every night, and very dense. However, she knows what she's talking about, and is VERY helpful if you ask for her help on a paper.

Her class is impossible to get an A or B in. She says you do not have the philosophical knowledge to get an A. Her tests are so difficult that grad students couldn't pass them. She takes off points on papers for the most ridiculous things. DO NOT TAKE. She was the only class I didn't get an A in …more freshman year. less

She is a terrible teacher. She spends way too much time making her assignments way too hard for freshmen to do. I think she does this because she has no life other than her job. She needs to be fired because no one can get an A in her boring class!!
