The curriculum is a mile wide and inch deep. He has random pop quizzes and expects you to know random facts and definitions about various societies. Tests are tough, essay and short answer questions only. Requires a ton of reading assignments and you are not told what to focus on so doing well on …more his pop quizzes is difficult. less

Pop reading quizzes when he feels like it, so READ in advance. 2 map quizzes that he gives in advance to study for. Midterms and finals are HELL. He gives you a list of terms to memorize in dept and 6 essays to memorize and he chooses what he feels like on the day. NO extra credit :( Too much work!

This is the worst teacher i have ever had in my life. I feel bad being so mean but this has to be said. He gives no directions or guidelines for his assignments but then grades much harder then is fair. He also could not care less about his students and was not willing to take time to help student …more who sought help from him. less

Tests are extremely detailed and difficult to study for because he give you no information on what you are looking for. Extremely random quizzes. Assignments are poorly thought out and unclear. If you have any other choices take any other teacher even if that means having to drive an hour to …more another school. less

Overall he is not a bad professor is he is just super strict and a very hard grader. Class consist of pop quizzes but don't affect grade very much as I missed 5 and still passed with an A... Just pay attention to lecture as it is exactly what will come up on the exams

This could have been a pretty boring class, but he made it really interesting. Lectures were well organized, and it was pretty clear was the expectations were. Exam questions were based mostly on the lecture, so make sure you go to class. Also very accessible, and he helps you a lot if you go to …more office hours. less

I wouldn't suggest him if you're taking Asian American Studies. He's really straight-forward, not that bad of a grader but his quizzes were a little difficult. It was really frustrating to have him as a professor because it was hard to get an A

Lectures are actually pretty interesting, especially about things like modern events. The quizzes and the tests are kinda tough though. You have to go to the lectures, but the readings are not as important, except maybe for the papers. I went to office hours once and he was cool.
